What is Local SEO
Local SEO is how you get your business found by people searching nearby.
Whenever someone searches with a place in mind, like “dentist in Lincoln” or “roofer near me”, Google switches to local results. It shows a map with three businesses, known as the local pack, then a list of local websites underneath. Local SEO is the work that gets you into both.

Do Google reviews help local SEO?
Yes, a lot. How many reviews you have, your star rating and how recently people left them all feed into how prominent Google thinks you are, and they’re the first thing customers compare. Never buy reviews though. Fake reviews break Google’s rules and are now banned under UK consumer law.
Can I do local SEO without a website?
You can appear in the map pack with just a Google Business Profile, but it’s much harder. A website gives Google more to go on, lets you rank in the local results under the map and gives customers somewhere to check you out before they call.
I work from home or travel to customers. Can I still use local SEO?
Yes. Google lets service area businesses hide their address and list the towns they cover instead. Plumbers, cleaners, mobile mechanics and most trades work this way, and local SEO works just as well for them.
Can I rank in towns where I don’t have an address?
In the map pack it’s tough, because Google puts a lot of weight on distance. In the local results underneath, absolutely. A well written location page for each town you serve is how most of our clients win work across a wider area.
Do I need a local SEO company near me?
It helps if they understand your area, but they don’t need to be on your street. Searching for local SEO near me or local SEO services near me will turn up plenty of options.
